The initial inspiration came from shadows reflected on grass. A few months later she came up with a technique that didn't create the object she chose on the canvas as an unflat image. More like the subject has been transformed into it's own representation with the canvas taking its interpretation from the artist. It is most effective for objects that are living or items that are perishable like people or fruits. Alexa's style of painting is ephemeral, and the only thing left of Alexa Meade's art is her photographs. The painting and photography techniques are tightly coordinated, resulting in a flat two-dimensional area that is trompe l'oeil. Only certain elements of the picture like hair and eyes, reveal the three-dimensional dimension. Meade has also integrated her painted models within the 3D space that surrounds the models. The interaction between them and this created world is possible. Thereby repealing the boundaries between photography, painting performance and installation.
